  • UPSC ( Union Public Service Commission) administers the National Defence Academy exams twice a year.
  • The NDA exam can be applied by students who have cleared their 12th class examinations. 
  • The NDA exam is conducted in two parts: an offline examination followed by an SSB interview.
  • Candidates who complete these phases are accepted into the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, where they will study for three years. 
  • After completing this course, army cadets attend the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun, Navy cadets attend the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala, air force cadets attend the Indian Air Force Academy in Hyderabad, where they receive a one year training before being selected as officers in the respective services.

  • Indian Army Technical Entry Scheme (TES)
  • TES is for students who have completed their 12th grade with subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

  • TES cutoff marks are used to shortlist candidates. The TES SSB interview is only for those who have been shortlisted. 

3.  CDS exam

The Union Public Service Commission, or UPSC, conducts the Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam twice a year for various branches of the Indian Armed Forces, such as the Air Force, Army, and Navy. Exams are usually held in the months of February and November. To qualify for the CDS test, candidates must be graduates.
